What we actually do, and what we don't claim.

We would rather be honest than fashionable. We are a port agency, not an environmental company, and we will not pretend otherwise. But there are real steps we take in our own operation, and a genuine respect for the protected waters we work in. Here is what is true.

In our own operation

  • An electric vehicle fleet for our day-to-day work.
  • Solar panels at our premises.
  • A paperless office, run through Paperless.
  • No single-use plastic or glass bottles.
  • Recycling across the operation.

A choice at DMC Madeira

Our sister company DMC Madeira uses equipment made from ocean-recycled plastic in some of its experiences. A small thing, but a deliberate one.

Respect for protected waters

This is where it matters most. We operate in and around the Desertas and Selvagens nature reserves, among the most strictly protected in the Atlantic. Working there means respecting the rules of the IFCN to the letter, on access, on conduct, on limits. We do not treat these waters as a destination to be sold. We treat them as a responsibility to be managed.

What we don't claim

On the shipping side of our work, we do not yet have environmental initiatives of our own to show, and we will not invent them. We hold ISO 9001, not ISO 14001. When that changes, this page will say so.
